Frequently asked questions
How does NDR Auto Components score on the five pillars?
NDR Auto passes one of five pillars: iron fortress. Sunrise, leadership, moat and free cash flow grade partial. The fortress is net worth of Rs 358 cr, zero bank debt, interest cover of 31.73x, a minus 1 day cash conversion cycle and zero promoter pledging. The partials share one root: about 70% of end revenue traces to Maruti Suzuki, the Rs 3,000 cr FY30 target needs 38% compound growth with no quantified bridge, the Maruti relationship for core products belongs to associate Bharat Seats, and FY26 free cash flow was negative Rs 36 cr.
Why does free cash flow only grade partial for NDR Auto?
Operating cash flow was Rs 84 cr in FY25, which proves the engine converts when capex pauses, but it fell to Rs 37 cr in FY26 while investing outflow rose to Rs 59 cr as fixed assets jumped from Rs 153 cr to Rs 269 cr. Free cash flow was negative Rs 36 cr in FY26, and cumulative free cash flow over FY22 to FY26 is negative despite about Rs 207 cr of cumulative consolidated PAT. The capex is named growth capex funded without debt or dilution, which mitigates but does not change the delivered-cash record.
Pillar 1: Sunrise, PARTIAL. Is the demand sunrise real?
The pool is real: Maruti sold 24.23 lakh vehicles in FY26, and value is shifting inside the car toward ambient lighting, NVH refinement, sunshades, seat inserts and seat belt reminders, the exact kit NDR is building, lifting addressable content from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per car toward Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. Q1 FY27 revenue grew 19.6%. The deduction is the funnel: about 70% of end revenue from Maruti Suzuki and 85 to 90% from Maruti plus Toyota (ICRA), while Tata and Mahindra, the fastest premiumisation story outside those groups, are not customers. A growing market through a two-name funnel: PARTIAL.
Pillar 2: Leadership, PARTIAL. Did they do what they said?
The delivery record is strong: revenue Rs 233 cr to Rs 822.54 cr and PAT Rs 15 cr to Rs 62.09 cr since FY22, margin up every year, plants and programmes mostly on time (Gujarat March 2023, Kia January 2025, Anantapur July 2026), promoter holding flat with zero pledging, succession settled into a family trust in 2025, and dividends rising every year on a bonus-adjusted basis. The deductions are the Rs 3,000 cr FY30 target (38% compound growth needed, own project maths bridges to about Rs 1,300 cr, no quantified bridge published after an analyst put the gap to management in February 2026), a Hayashi lighting start slipped to July 2027, a flat Rs 650 cr order book, an unquantified tax demand under appeal, and Rs 11.25 cr spent on luxury hotel office space. Reliable operators, unaudited headline promise: PARTIAL.
Pillar 3: Moat, PARTIAL. What defends the position?
Incumbency inside the Maruti ecosystem: 30 to 35% of Maruti's frame and trim requirement (ICRA), three Japanese technology JVs (Toyota Boshoku, Toyo Seat, Hayashi Telempu), a safety-critical model-specific part that cannot be switched mid-programme, seven-year model lives, and an 11% operating margin, double associate Bharat Seats' roughly 5%. What is missing is the customer itself: for core frames and trims the Maruti relationship belongs to Bharat Seats, where Maruti is a JV partner, so NDR sits one layer from the purchasing desk. And from October 7, 2026 the Gabriel-Forvia JV (Rs 100 cr equity, about 10% India seating share target, Maruti already a Forvia customer) contests every new programme from 2027. A relationship and qualification moat, strong inside one ecosystem: PARTIAL.
Pillar 4: Iron Fortress, PASS. Can it survive a siege?
Yes. Net worth Rs 358 cr; zero bank debt on the company's account; interest cost Rs 3 cr; interest cover 31.73x; debt-equity 0.12 in the annual report; pledging 0.00%; suppliers fund the operation (cash conversion cycle minus 1 day). Screener's Rs 62 cr borrowings line is flagged openly as lease and similar liabilities on the company's account, and even counted in full it is 0.17x net worth. The reservation is depth, not solvency: cash fell from Rs 58 cr to Rs 23.26 cr in the capex year and the standalone current ratio tightened to 1.25. PASS.
Pillar 5: Free Cash Flow, PARTIAL. Does the cash show up?
Intermittently. Free cash flow across FY22 to FY26 was negative Rs 28 cr, positive Rs 2 cr, negative Rs 7 cr, positive Rs 36 cr and negative Rs 36 cr, cumulative negative against about Rs 207 cr of cumulative PAT. FY25 (Rs 84 cr operating cash flow on Rs 53 cr PAT) proves the engine; FY26 proves how fast the Rs 149.80 cr programme consumes it. The spend is named growth capex with start dates, funded without debt or dilution, and dividends still rose to a 15% payout. The grade waits for the January 2027 projects to convert the Rs 650 cr order book into a year of Rs 40 cr plus free cash flow: PARTIAL.
What would change the grades?
Sunrise upgrades if a non-Suzuki, non-Toyota OEM passes 10% of revenue. Leadership upgrades on a published quantified bridge to FY30 or two years above 25% growth. Moat upgrades if NDR wins a new programme against Forvia-Anand, and downgrades if its share of Maruti's frame and trim requirement slips below 30%. Iron Fortress downgrades if bank debt funds the next phase or the current ratio falls below 1.1. Free Cash Flow upgrades on a full year above Rs 40 cr with the new plants live, and downgrades on a second consecutive negative year.
